I don’t think calling him a videogame god does justice to what this is. It’s a profound social experiment and for the winner, I wonder down the road, whether he might regret what he’s won or become something nobody could have imagined. Which, to be realistic, might also just be a blip of celebrity in time. Still, this strikes me as likely to transform the content of the game and its players into something, culturally and historically new.
